Observation is the most popular method of studying a person's behavior in real-life situations. The observation method uses two steps.
The first stage-observer determines which characteristics of personality he has to observe.
Phase II - The viewer observes the activities of the usability related to the selected characteristics in its real-life situations.
Observations can be made in two ways
1. In this type without hiding, the observer does not hide himself. He stays in front of usability. Sometimes the viewer also becomes a member of the usability group. For example, a social researcher stayed in his group for two months to study primitive people living in the Himalayan valleys, participating in all their activities and festivities.
2. Unfolded - The second type of viewer is not exposed. He observes living in a place where the subject does not realize his presence. In this type, the observer can also use terracorder, camera, binoculars etc.
Repeated observation of the same conditions can be done or a group of several observers can also be used to test the accuracy of the results of the observation. Merits of Observation Method
1. This method is less expensive. 2. In this the measurer himself observes the qualities or characteristics of the applicant or subject. 3. This method is of great use for personality measurement of young children. 4. The correctness of the facts observed using the apparatus or instruments as required
